The Cygnets

"Cygnets" are baby swans and here's Entlich!  After studying the babies that appear every Sprng on the Avon in Stratford, Ontario, I've wanted for some time to try to recreate their fuzzy little bodies with hard-to-distinguish features!

Each baby is unique, of course, but they all are about 4 inches long and 3 1/2 inches tall with alpaca or mohair bodies, upholstery fabric beaks, hand-stitched embroidery floss nostrils and safety-lock eyes.  Entlich's legs and flippers are wired so they can be posed while his wings are shaped like wings (with three sections) but you don't see much in the long fluff (just like the real thing). The little white overhang on his beak is also realistic, although it's somewhat smaller on the real cygnets.  Not recommended for young children.

On the right, that's Pearl with the cygnets Entlich and SplishPearlwithbabies-smaller.jpg (32903 bytes) (in alpaca) and Little Prince (in a European variegated gray synthetic).
